The Arkansas Fire Protection Licensing Board was created in 1977 at the urging of the people in the fire protection systems industries.
In 1984 the automatic fire sprinkler contracting industry sought licensing legislation and Act 702 of 1985 brought them under this Board.
The purpose and intent of this Board under A.C.A.20-22-601 is to provide monitoring of the servicing and installation of portable fire extinguishers, fixed fire suppression systems. fire sprinkler systems and to provide for the registration and licensing of businesses and persons providing such services in order to protect and promote life safety by minimizing personal injury and property damage which might result from improperly installed or improperly maintained fire extinguishing systems.
